The benefits of vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin) have long been known but new research shows that consuming vitamind D supplements is even better than originally thought, perhaps decreasing the chance of getting certain cancers by 60%. If you live in a climate with lots of sunshine and your skin does get exposed to the sun however you might not need it, but for those of us that have long dark winters, taking 1000IU of vitamin D is something you should look into. Remember, always consult your health-care provider before taking any vitamins or medications.
